Tan Hwee Loo is Head of Asia in the Private Equity (PE) department, which covers China, India, Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea, and ANZ.
Ms Tan joined GIC in 2001 as an economist, where she was involved in global economics research and asset allocation. In 2005 she joined the PE department and has worked in a number of different teams in PE. She worked in the Europe PE Group in London and was part of the Asia Funds and Co-Investments Group in Singapore in 2013. In 2016, she was appointed as Head, Secondaries and tasked with setting up the global secondaries team as well as growing the new strategy. In 2020, Ms. Tan was appointed as Co-Head of GIC PE’s Global Investments, Strategy, and Risk, supporting the PE Chief Investment Officer in various aspects of the business.
Within GIC, Ms Tan is a member of the Human Resource Committee, as well as a panel member of the GIC Resilience Fund. Externally, she serves on the Investment Committee of the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Ms Tan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (1997) from the London School of Economics. She also holds a Master of Philosophy in Economics (1999) from Nuffield College, Oxford University.
