Elaine Chan is Director in an Investment Services Private Markets (ISPVM) team that provides investment services to private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and cross-strategy investments strategically and tactically. The department is responsible for deal structuring, execution and closing, due diligence, tax advisory, investment holding structures, finance and investment operations, portfolio monitoring, data management, reporting and analytics, and valuations. Her responsibilities also include developing the business infrastructural plans and operating models needed to scale GIC’s investments in alternative asset classes globally and deliver operational excellence using data and technology. She is currently a member of the Corporate Management Committee, Sustainability Committee, Enterprise Architecture Board, Pricing and Valuation Committee, and Block-Chain Steering Committee.
Prior to this role, as Managing Director, Investment Service Public Markets, Elaine was responsible for driving and scaling the execution of all public market investment strategies, as well as GIC’s global execution, trade and collateral operations, asset servicing, investment monitoring, regulatory reporting, market data management, network management, and custody control.
She has also held various leadership positions within GIC in Enterprise Strategy Unit, Public and Private Markets Operations, Asset Servicing, Finance and Corporate Planning. In these roles, she developed new active management services and capabilities, strengthened GIC’s global network of partners, organizational systems and investment processes, and drove digital transformation of investment services through the use of new technology, data analytics, and machine learning. Prior to joining GIC, she was with the Business & Advisory as well as the Corporate Recovery & Insolvency arms of Pricewaterhouse.
Elaine holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University. She has also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and is a member of the Harvard Business School Alumni.
