    MOE-GIC Partnership

GIC collaborates with the Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE), to develop learning resources and experiential engagements that complement the national curriculum. These initiatives help prepare young Singaporeans to confidently navigate an increasingly complex, uncertain, and ever-changing world.

    How it works

Through different mediums and engagements – digital articles, interactive novels, videos, games, learning journeys and dialogues – students gain access to global perspectives and insights with real-world applications. The topics covered include:

    • Reserves & Financial Literacy
    • The Global Economy & Impact on Singapore
    • The Future of Work & Careers in Investment Management

    Impact on the community

Since 2018 – through learning journeys, dialogues, workshops and talent development programmes – the MOE-GIC Partnership has facilitated applied, real-world learning for over 16,000 secondary and pre-university students.

“The sharing helped me realise that the economic costs of climate change are very sobering. We need to make meaningful investments that reduce the impact of global warming, but investment is not an easy process, especially when it comes to investing for climate change. Sustainability and investment are intertwined.”

“The students found the experience engaging and they shared that they took away a new perspective on financial sustainability and reserves management. It also spurred us to reflect on how we can support our students in authentic learning - making Economics concepts more visible to our students, as well as fostering interest and enthusiasm in learning the discipline.”

Sustaining Our Future: A Reserves & Financial Literacy Learning Journey

This 3-hour experiential learning journey for Pre-University students offers an exploration of Singapore’s reserves management, the role of reserves in financial sustainability and the principles GIC uses for investment decisions.

Students will gain real-world insights into economic concepts, understand trade-offs in decision-making, and develop critical thinking and civic literacy skills.

The session also draws parallels between national reserves and personal financial management, providing students with a framework for making informed decisions in their daily lives.
