John Tang is Co-Head of Global Investments, Strategy & Risk, which performs the functions of the CIO and CRO office for private equity and infrastructure investments in GIC. He sits on both investment committees for Private Equity (PE) and Infrastructure, and his responsibilities include investment assessment, investment strategy, portfolio management, and risk management. In addition, John is co-chair of the GIC Technology Business Group, which coordinates technology investing across GIC.
Prior to this appointment, John was Head of the North America Funds and Co-Investments Group based out of New York. He also spent 10 years in Silicon Valley, during which he was head of the Global Technology Group helping build GIC’s global venture capital business. Prior to GIC, John was a consultant at Bain & Company, a leading strategy consulting firm, where he had clients in Singapore and the UK.
John holds a Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Hons) and Master of Science (Computing) from the Imperial College, London. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
