SINGAPORE – 28 APRIL 2022
There have been police reports about scammers impersonating GIC via Telegram channels and offering investment services to the public.
Please be advised that these Telegram channels and their requests are fraudulent.
In these cases, victims received a Telegram invitation to join group chats known as “Government of Singapore Investment Corporation”. The scammers operating the group chat claimed to be from GIC and offered lucrative investment packages. Victims who decided to invest in these packages were directed to provide their personal particulars and bank account number to sign up for the packages. Thereafter, they were asked to transfer monies into bank accounts provided by the scammers. Victims only realised that they have been scammed when they did not receive the expected returns or were unable to withdraw their investments.
GIC manages Singapore’s foreign reserves and does not provide any investment services to the public. Please be forewarned that any attempt to solicit investments from any member of the public using GIC’s name and/or brand is a fraud or scam.
